"Partnering with altPath has been transformational for our work. I first got connected to altPath during my Social Work internship at the USC Trojan Guardian Scholars program, later shared it with countless students as a Trade Scholarship Coordinator, and have now fully incorporated it into our curriculum at Foster Nation. It is such a crucial resource to not only help students explore potential career pathways, but to actually get them enrolled in training with the financial backing to make it happen. By making the support of a career center accessible to youth and directly targeting those who need it most, altPath is opening doors to lasting economic mobility."

Frequently asked questions

altPath is a free career and training discovery platform. We help people explore careers, find the right training program, and get the support to enroll and finish strong.

altPath is for anyone who's ready to start or change their career and wants a clear path to get there. That might be someone just out of high school who isn't sure college is right for them, a parent looking to move from a paycheck to a career, or an adult starting over in a new field. Whatever their starting point, altPath meets them there and helps them see what's possible.

Yes, users never pay to explore careers, compare training programs, or get matched with options that fit their lives. Cost shouldn't be the reason someone can't take the first step, so we've removed it.

Every program on altPath is reviewed by our team before it's listed. We look for programs that are accredited, based in the U.S., have an active website, and have no consumer protection flags against them. These standards help ensure that when a user finds a program on altPath, they can trust it's a legitimate path forward.

altAid is a hardship grant, averaging $350, that helps altPath users cover the costs that can get in the way of finishing training, like materials, supplies, and everyday life expenses. It's designed to close the gap between enrolling and actually making it through.

altPath users who have found and enrolled in a non-bachelor-degree training program through altPath are eligible to apply for altAid.

We partner with organizations that share our goal of connecting people to careers:

  • Training providers list their programs so motivated learners can find and enroll in them.
  • Community-based organizations use altPath to help the people they serve explore careers and plan next steps.
  • altAid funders grow the grant pool so more learners can cover the cost of finishing their training.

A non-binding collaboration

Partnering with altPath is voluntary. It is not a contract, and you can pause or end it anytime.
